Fairy tales of the forest

by Rina Singh, with illustrations by Helen Cann

Have you ever thought of a tree as a friend?

Trees are homes for birds, insects or animals, they are welcoming shelters from rain or summer sun, they are wonderful hiding places for children and their games. But have you ever thought of a tree as a friend? Don't trees also have thoughts and memories, or maybe they even speak and we would hear them if we listened carefully enough? Through this anthology of stories about trees, collected from all over the world, Rina Singh proposes that we rethink our relationship with trees and the forest.

Exuberantly illustrated by Helen Cann, in an abundance of nuance and detail, and with brief information about the species of trees spoken of in each story, this book will encourage children to recognize and appreciate the many gifts that trees give us offers them.
